This trailer has me totally confused.
I’m probably going to have to see this movie.

Alternitive Press Expo
APE is like Comic Con, but without all commercialism and Klingons that exploit and embarrass fans of serious sequential art.
Of the books that I bought (which is less than the number of books that I wanted but greater than the number of books that I could reasonably afford) these are my favorites:
Dorothy
Yep, that Dorothy. Baum’s novel as a 21st century fumetti comic. But don’t expect any ruby slippers here, elements unique to the movie are still the property of Warner Bros. (Funny how intellectual properties laws work isn’t it?)
Instead, expect a rebellious teenage girl from Kansas with a pink streak dyed in her hair and a pierced lip, with a robot dog and …?
Well it’s only the second issue so she still hasn’t met the Scarecrow yet.

Video
This time the resurrection will be televised.
This is Stephen R. Buell’s book about religion and the media. Jesus returns and the media circus begins, and four twenty-somethings try to make sense of it all.
Is God on TV, or is your TV god?

House of Twelve
One of the better anthology comics I’ve seen. And their extensive website means I can keep this plug short. Each issue has a theme, issue number one’s was the search for god, and the second issue’s was sci-fi. Issue three’s theme will be obscenity; I’m looking forward to it.

Flight vol. 2
This 431 page, $25 dollar anthology is one of the best entertainment values you’ll find anywhere.
Flight is the gallery nucleus
showcase for comic talent. Over 32 creators are involved, too many to list here. If you don’t like mainstream comics this is for you.
Saturday’s are ment for paddling
Well Team SDAFF isn’t exactly a Dragonboat machine.
We lost both our races to Team DJ Ortho. Yeah that’s right we lost to a team of orthopedic specialists.
But in Dragonboat there are no losers for you see while they might have gone on to the third round, we got to go home early.

Gotta get my shit together
Somehow I’ve got to find the time too:
- Study for and pass all the tests that I need to get both an MCSE and a MCDBA in the next four months.
- Start writing again. When I was at APE I realized it’d been over six months since I’d seriously put pen to paper.
- Start reading again. The only reading I’ve been doing is comic books and The Zombie Survival Guide because it’s a great bathroom reader.
- Keep up the weekly contributions to clusterstruck
- Run three miles a day and go to the gym 3 times a week.
- All while working full-time. (And start making deadlines.)
I already promised to be on the SDAFF dragon boat team Saturday, but after that I’m not taking on any more responsibilities or commitments until I learn how to keep up with my current slate. That means no 24 Hour Comic this year, I’ll be lucky to get to all four days of Comic Con.
Speak of keeping my shit together; after Tuesday’s experiences I won’t be having any Bleu Cheese Dressing for a long, long time.

The One Thing
Dale, a slight composer and studio musician, never had much in common with his father, a blue-collar enthusiast of cheep beer and football.
Now he was gone and they’ll never be able to make that connection. As he sifted, sorted and packed his fathers estate, it bothered Dale that neither of them had really tried.
While cleaning out the bathroom closet Dale found an old photo album. Suspicious place, he thought.
Inside, he discovered the preserved pages from the pinup magazines of his father’s youth. All his favorite pictures, fifty issues of Playboy here, collected in one convenient volume.
“That’s… brilliant!”

Settling In/The Body has Settled
OK, I’m mostly settled in. The important stuff has been moved and most of it has been put away (except the boxes of items that are bound for ebay). Now to get my metaphorical shit together.
I used to be quite the fitness enthusiast. Now, not so much. Let’s just say that eighteen months of sitting in front of a laptop at Lestat’s have taken its toll:

So starting this week I’ll be back at the gym three times a week doing my old High Intensity work out (until I find my notes on Super Sets), running the two miles to the gym, and learning to watch what I eat again.
BTW There is a new Hundred Word Story on clusterstruck every day this week from Dan, Linda, April, Debbie and me.
