And Johnny Cash will Voice the Coyote.

I remember the horror-story scare tactics we were fed at school. I bought into them because I had a strong trust of authority as a child, and that’s a habit I’m still trying to break.
They told us that drugs could destroy our creativity and that’s the impression that stuck with me, despite all the evidence to the contrary. My favorite author, Grant Morrison, one of the most creative forces working in comics, has done a lot of drugs. A lot of drugs. I’m surprised that there are any drugs left.
Why did I let my opinion on drugs be formed by people who’d never experienced them?
Since I heard Richard Metzger describe how DMT brought him out of his depression and got him started creating Disinformation I’ve been rethinking the subject. Recently, a post by Dr Susan Blackmore and and especially Daniel Pinchbeck’s Breaking Open the Head have done a lot to help change my mind. Daniel was in similar state that I’m in now, where what modern life has offered just isn’t enough.
The writing helps, but it still relies on the external validation of publishers and readership. Dependence.
I’m already doing caffeine, alcohol and sugar on a regular basis, not to mention all the other chemicals that are running through my body that keep me from thinking straight.
Keep in mind that I’m only talking about entheogenic drugs. I’m not talking about cocaine, heroin and their like. I’m interested in exploration and discovery, not exaggerating what’s already there.
I still have to do a lot of research, because I want to make sure this is something I want to do, and that I do it right.

But, is it going to fake a suicide attempt if you try to break up with it?

…and Bobby Henderson is his prophet.

What would it take to create a national movement to have the wackiest creation myth included in the Intelligent Design movement?

Originally, I was thinking the Norse myth where the world was licked from a giant block of ice by a giant cow, but the Flying Spaghetti Monster is just as good.

I would like to show up at an Intelligent Design protest with a sign that said “The
Flying Spaghetti Monster is Love!!!” ?

Is there someone already out there keeping track of scheduled protests? Do people still do Flash-Mobs?

My hopes for getting something like this off the ground in apathetic San Diego aren’t high…

I received my pro-pass conformation for Comic Con, and I still haven’t read everything I bought last year.

this monitor is controlling my brain

The monitor that I spend 9+ hours a day looking at has a short in the red signal.
Most of the time I get no red at all and the world is blue, grey and 1/3 as bright as it should be. At these times I’m cranky, my eyes hurt and I’m pissed.
Sometimes the red will return. This significantly improves my mood and my eyes feel better right away.
Five to thirty minutes later the red goes away and my loathing returns stronger than before.
It’s like reliving my early twenties.

Yesterday I was telling April about the work I’ve put into the current project, still working-titled The Boy Trilogy. She seemed really interested in it but then asked, “Does it have to be a comic book?”

Well, I suppose that it doesn’t have to be just a comic book. Why not release it as a comic and as prose at the same time?

Right now I’m thinking; write the script for the graphic novel. And while that’s being drawn, flesh it out into a novel. Hopefully, both will be ready for release at the same time so they can promote each other.

They Move In and Take What They Want

“Hey, while you’re out could you pick up some toilet paper?” Jay asked his roommate.

Rick paused as he reached for the door, “Sure, anything else?”

“Depends, where are you going?”

“Wal-Mart.”

Jay stiffened. “Wal-Mart? You’re going to Wal-Mart?”

“It’s close and cheap”, Rick answered, “You know a better place?”

“How about any place?” Jay’s tone rose, “You’re going to give your money to a corporation that suppresses wages, destroys small businesses and forces manufacturers to move production overseas?”

“And while I’m there I’m also going to be doing some shoplifting.”

Jay’s righteous indignation subsided, “Wait up, I’ll come with.”
