1. Don’t update the BIOS without a really good reason.
  2. Having an external hard drive to backup files on only works when I copy the files over to it.
  3. Don’t keep my only copy of important files on the Desktop.

Applying any of these lessions before Sunday would have made this week easier.

HP tech support sucks, I can hear them reading instructions off the spreadsheet. At least with Dell I got someone who knew what they were doing a third of the time.

Ah well, at least I had the novel backed up on the thumbdrive. (and now on gmail)

  1. Oh, sucks! I need to remember to back up my school files on my old brick of an ipod. My laptop has been pretty solid so far, but it’s closing in on 3.5 years old (got it for my 22nd birthday) and if I lost my files right before test time I’d be pretty royally screwed.

  3. Re: points 2 and 3
Doesn’t it suck that, even with fancy external drives and online storage, the most important thing is STILL as simple as putting things away where they belong?
